Frequently Asked Questions

What’s a Boyzilian or Manzilian?

Commonly referred to as “Buttocks Sack & Crack”, or Male Full Brazilian Wax. It’s the tidying, shaping and removal of the hair from the man’s genital area, with either traditional wax or sugaring hair removal method.

Includes removal of hair from bikini line, shaft, scrotum or sac, groin and crack and buttocks. This new improved look, it is more hygienic. It is a must have for the Metrosexual Male who look after themselves and want to look good at all times. Be ready to impress and feel good and confident at all times.

Does it hurt?

A bit, but the pain does fade within seconds and subsequent sessions hurt less than the first session. Regular visits are recommended to minimise the pain as hair grows weaker or stops growing.

Why shaving is not recommended?

Shaving stimulates potential hair growth and can strengthen the hair follicle. Shaving also cuts the hair at the hair shaft, which not only re-grows with a stubbly, itchy and uncomfortable feel, but the hair returns within a day or so.

Why hair removal creams are not recommended?

Some creams can cause irritation to the skin, as normally they are applied at home and without a proper consultation and patch test.

How the Boyzilian is done?

After the consultation with the therapist the whole area is cleansed and disinfected. The long hair is clipped and trimmed if necessary, and then wax is applied in sections. The wax used is alternated between a warm wax (strip) and a no-strip wax (thicker). The same applies with our sugaring method. Whilst waxing, the skin is pulled taught, you may be asked to stretch certain areas. Once the waxing is completed, an after cooling and moisturising solution is applied to help soothe the area and remove stickiness.

Are there any side effects of waxing and how can they be minimized?

Although we cannot predict or guarantee who may react, most clients do not experience reactions beyond redness and minor irritation. Hair may break at the root during waxing, causing some hairs to grow out faster. Please follow these guidelines to minimize irritation and red spots:

  • Avoid the sun immediately after waxing and please wear sun screen; recently waxed areas are prone to hyperpigmentation (permanent darkening of the skin) if exposed to the sun.
  • Avoid heavy exercise for at least 24 hours after waxing.
  • Do not use exfoliating products or scrubs for at least 24 hours after waxing as they might further irritate your skin.
  • Avoid tight clothing after waxing, especially in the waxed areas. Tight clothing may result in irritation and ingrown hairs.
  • Routine waxing helps the skin get accustomed to the procedure and may minimize irritation.
  • Hot baths, hot showers, swimming or steam rooms are not recommended within 12 hours after waxing. While your pores are open, they are vulnerable to irritation by the extreme temperatures and infection by bacteria.

How long does the Boyzilian waxing take?

Depending on the density of the hair growth, your waxing appointment will take between 30 minutes to 45 minutes.

How long should the hair be before I wax?

The recommended hair length should be between ¼ and ½ of an inch or full growth. Please do not feel the need to trim as you may trim the hairs too short. If you clipped use grading number 3.

How long will it last?

Hair growth rate is very individual; it will last for two weeks for a clean look.

How often the wax sessions are required?

Four weeks is the average time in between waxing. At the most 5 weeks.

Is it true that over time I will not have to wax anymore?

Unfortunately not. The hair will grow weaker and finer and eventually will thin out over time. So, you may wax less frequently.

Will I be wearing anything when I wax?

There will be a towel you can drape over yourself.

I get ingrown hairs when I shave, will waxing eliminate them?

For the majority of people, yes. However, waxing has its own version of ingrown hair that can be reduced with proper after care such as manual exfoliation when you shower and daily application of an after wax lotion or moisturiser specifically designed for attacking ingrown hairs.

Will waxing make me red, and how long will the redness last?

It depends on the sensitivity of the skin. Redness can last up to an hour or longer. In particular hyper sensitive skin can last for a day or two.

Why do men get waxed?

Men usually get waxed to satisfy their sense of self-image, improve their confidence or simply because their partners demand a clean, smooth and tidy look. The modern man and metro sexual spirit demands high standards and starts with their self-care. We hear the sex is better, and this makes sense as the skin without any hair has an increased sensation and sensitivity. Plus the extra “optical" inch. So Good luck!

When should you NOT wax?

You should not wax if you are on Retin-A, Renova, Accutane or any other skin- thinning product that is designed to clear the skin of acne taken topically or orally.

Please refrain from using your moisturizer at least 24 hours prior to your service. You also shouldn’t wax if you have a systemic disease or if you are sunburned.

Can I choose the areas to be waxed?

Yes, there are packages available or individually on the services list.
